Artist's Comments

I couldn't decide whether it should be a gallery or a scraps submission but I figured a huge part of why I'm submitting this one is just pure personal, so i wanted to submit it to the scraps. But at the same time I wanted people's comment on the description... please read it. So i figure i'll submit to the gallery and then move it, how about that?

Okay, so here's the story:
I'm absolutely in love with London. I visited in summer and loved it more than all the other cities I have ever visited. Even though I only spent a few days there, I was just swept off my feet with the amazing ambiance the city has. something off a page of a book for me, I can't really explain and i suppose it's purely personaly, but whatever it is, it paterialized in the picture of one of my favourite "symbols" of London - the red phone booth - seen here [link]

This week I was lucky enough to go and visit again. Unfortunately only for a few days, but I feel it's been more. I really got that feeling again and spent the days mostly walking around rather than running from one famous place to another. It's like I got to know a rock star by going backstage, you know?

They say friends are people who know everything about you but STILL love you. Well this is how I feel. I've seen London not in its best light and I still love it. I tried to express it with this photograph. Yes, still my red phone booth, but now from a different side. Filled with photographs with descriptions and phone numbers of, er, escort services, the darkness and saturation of the dirt...

Does the artists intention and interpretation of an art piece matters? I beleive it does.
Did i manage to communite?
do you think a "true' piece of art should be able to communicate without words to it?

soft, but very london ish. that's how i'd feel london too. the cab, the lights, the booth, very ... moody.

i think each piece of art has 2 sides to it - the viewer and the artist. if the interpretation of the viewer coincides with that of the artist, the artist feels fullfilled. however, even if it doesn't, the artwork can still stand indepedently.

if done properly i think that art can surpass the mere art of looking good
it can tell a story even if it has no context to it...although it is wonderful and
most important for me to hear about the context of this and what this means to
you..i think it is only then that i can interpret what you see into how i feel about this
it is so much easier...not less of a challenge sometimes even more to
try to embody the experiece especially if viewers have been on the same soil...

i am happy you submitted this because it shows that the simplest things in
life can make one smile and in that moment it becomes something that
is holy to you and something you want to share with others..it works as an image
because of the dynamic you stated...the image itself is so innate to that place...
the red phone booth not shiny anymore...littered with porn dirty and grimy
you look at it and still adore it

because sometimes likes aint got nothing to do with how pretty something is
when you get to the base of it all...everything is beautiful if you connect with it
so thank you for sharing alina it is beautiful
